Started to read Milan Kundera's Slowness last night. I'm enjoying it so far, and I'm so into the way he writes. Unfortunately, sometimes my brain has a hard time processing the way-too-intelligent thoughts that he's expressing (since I tend to fill it with mind candy and it's not used to having to exercise itself this way), and I find myself having to read a passage more than once. That's better, however, than how I'm doing so far with Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire, because the writing there is so lyrical that I'll find myself reading whole passages with no idea of what's really being said. And I was an ENGLISH MAJOR.
I have been slowly but surely plodding away on my little smut story. AND I finished the article I had to write for work, thank the gods. All this comes with a price: I've been online less and less and less, and I rather miss pointlessly surfing the Web.

Date: 2004-01-28 06:42 am (UTC)My friend recommended it to me and it took me a bit to get into it. I thought that was just me. I read it around the first time I *finally* read the HP books, incedently. I really liked his style, once I had finished reading the book. I had to re-read alot or read MUCH slower to catch what was going on. And I so missed some stuff because the end was a surprise. (And I have an English degree. So you'd think I'd maybe notice things better? Maybe?) But I still loved it. I truly did. I can understand why someone might not care for it or be ambivalent about it, but I like it. Now, if I can just get around to Wicked...My friend said it was better than Confessions...She does have good taste: she recommened HP to me too! :)
