Cold and dreary days = :(
Nov. 5th, 2009 01:27 pmReally enjoying Snow Flower and the Secret Fan so far. My next book after this is A Cavern of Black Ice, another fantasy. It was rec'ed by the same guy who rec'ed ASoIaF to me, so here's hoping I enjoy this series as well while the wait for book 5 goes on.(..and on...)
Looking forward to my bday dinner with
corianderstem tomorrow night, woot!
So, Dine Around Seattle is happening currently (essentially the same as Urban Eats, but with different restaurants), and as I mentioned my fam and I went to Spring Hill for my bday dinner. The day before my mom left, we went to Monsoon East in Bellevue (the only eastside restaurant participating) for lunch, which some of the restaurants also do, for 3-for-$15. Monsoon East is basically high-class Vietnamese, and it was good, but I didn't like it as much as I do the non-fancy Vietnamese places. Some food was simply meant to be enjoyed in a more casual, comfortable atmosphere. Like BBQ. Messy outdoor BBQs are way more enjoyable than stuffy BBQ indoors served on china and eaten with silverware! Anyway, I think I am especially picky because Vietnamese is my favorite cuisine. (Followed by French, then Mediterranean.)
Next week I have a regular check up at the doc's, and I'm going to try and get a swine flu shot, if they have any. I already got a regular flu shot last week. Apparently not only are they short on swine flu vaccinations, but I'm also not in the priority category of people aged 6 months to 24 years. Sheesh. Thank you, society, for emphasizing how I am no longer important, lol. Though at least I don't grow up feeling like I am totally worthless, like the women in the book I'm reading (and those in RL who went/go through that).
