ME concert, HP meme
Aug. 27th, 2004 11:40 amYou can never fully appreciate how large a lesbian population your area has until you have been to a Melissa Etheridge concert, I think.
The concert was great. I'm not extremely familiar w/ ME's music, but Jade made me listen to her latest album, "Lucky" (which I have enjoyed a lot), so at least I did recognize many of the songs. Melissa was really great -- there's nothing like seeing an artist live to be able to fully appreciate their talent -- but part of it was her kickass band. Her lead guitarist, OMG. Normally I'm not a gal who's into guitarists, I'm more of a drummer girl, but this guy was crazy amazing. His name's Philip Sayce, and on top of being fantastically talented ... from where we were sitting, he reminded me of Jason Lewis (aka Smith Jarrod from S&tC). *wipes drool*
We sat through most of the concert -- mostly because our section was full of staid people who didn't stand -- but during the encore we stood ... and was immediately told to sit down by the lameass people behind us. Hello, we were sitting down throughout the entire concert (which was fine, since most of ME's songs personally do not inspire me to rock out/dance), but can't you get your lazy ass up for the encore? Jeebus. We would have told them off (as I did during a No Doubt concert), except no one else in our particular section was standing, so it wasn't worth it. Still, there was fuming about lameass people who go to rock concerts and sit as if they're at the opera. ME didn't say anything about it, or else we might have felt more empowered ... like when I saw Green Day and Billie Joe was yelling at people, "What do you think this is, a fucking tea party??? Stand the hell up!" Gawd I love that Billie Joe.
Speaking of S&tC (up there), it was the coolest thing -- we saw Charlotte's dog!!!
ropo got some great pictures of it. I'd never seen a dog like that (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) until the show, and then we randomly saw one and she looked just like Elizabeth Taylor! However, the ET we saw did not get gangbanged in the park. <g> Here's pic #1, and pic #2.
Tomorrow we're meeting up with
leiliaxf to watch The Manchurian Candidate and Garden State, after our facials/massages.
( Oh yes. One day I will rule ... I mean lead very democratically ... the Wizarding World. )
