Oscars Contest!
Jan. 28th, 2004 10:45 amOkay, I thought I should have a little fun w/ the Oscars this year.
I haven't seen two of the Best Picture nominees (and have no real desire to see M&C), but for the first time in a long while, I'm really eager to see what the results are going to be on Feb. 29. I'm particularly excited about the noms of Johnny Depp and Keisha Castle-Hughes! Anyway, I thought it'd be fun if I had a little Oscar contest. Winner (the person who guesses the most number of correct picks) gets copies of Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, mostly because I have duplicate copies of those. <g> But who cares about the "prize" -- the fun is in the contesting! And saying that you won!
In case you want to see the list for yourself: Academy Award Nominees (EOnline)
Rules for participation:
1) You can only vote once (If you vote twice, LJ won't count it twice; it'll just make your new answers your answers), with one LJ account. Not that I would really know if you used some secret LJ that you created, but it would nag greatly on your conscience, I'm sure. As in, it would be really sad to try and cheat in a contest like this. Speak to a counselor.
2) As sort-of indicated in Rule #1, you can change your vote(s) as many times as you want before the poll closes -- just fill out the poll again and LJ will update your answers automatically. The poll will close an hour before the Oscars air, so get all your final submissions in by then. That means you can make your guesses today, but if you're some Oscars savant and you don't want people copying your answers, you may want to wait until the last possible moment.
3) Anyone with an LJ can participate, so if you want to tell others about this, feel free.
4) In the case of a tie, all winners will get something, along the same lines of the PD books.
5) If I win (hahaHA, I never win these things), I'll be really excited to keep my books! Just kidding. They will, of course, go to the second-best guesser.
6) If you win and don't want the prize, content to simply bask in the knowledge that you were the contest winner, I'll offer it to the next person, and so on and so forth.
7) If you work on the committee that does the Academy Awards vote counting, you are prohibited from this contest. (You never know.)
8) You get one point for each correct answer. If you fail to fill out an answer, you obviously won't get a point for that question.
9) If you see anything wrong w/ the poll, or w/ these rules, let me know straightaway.
Thanks and have fun!
