I have signed my soul away and purchased an iPod. I don't know what the world is coming to. Well, I might have purchased an iPod. I found it at Amazon zShops, only ... the first time I clicked to buy it, it said that the item was no longer available. Then when I clicked on it again just in case, it let me buy it. And immediately after that, I tried to buy it again to see if I could, and it was going to let me. So I don't know if it's just a glitch, and actually there are none available, or if the seller actually does have multiple items. And I'm not sure whether I want it to be available, or not.
It's a 20GB one (model M9282LL/A), but refurbished, and I paid around $195. Which is a really good price for that model ... if it works. The seller has an outstanding reputation, however, so I feel pretty good about it. Not sure that it comes with the standard 1-year warranty, but considering that broken iPods are selling on eBay for quite a bit (for parts), I wouldn't weep a river of tears if I at least got a few months' use out of it. You know, assuming I have actually purchased one.
CRAP. It's Mother's Day on Sunday, isn't it? Crap crap crap! Luckily I'm only mailing a card, so it won't be too late, but still, *facepalm*. I never have any idea what to get my mom, because she's so picky. The best thing to do with picky people is ask them what they want. So I did, and she was like, "I just want the money! I'd rather you not spend the money to get something I won't like." Which is pretty much what I thought it was going to be, but it's just such an unsexy 'gift.' Sigh. But, on the other hand she's going to Paris next week, so extra pocket money to spend there is probably a good thing. She'll probably spend it all on food, as that's her favorite thing. I so take after her.

I have music files off my cds and ones I've downloaded from Napster ($14.95 a month - all the transfer you want).
It's not on sale this weekend, but just keep checking back because it goes on sale every other weekend.
I actually like the controls better on the Dell than the ipod. It's very easy to nagivate and I play it in the car with an FM transmitter (get the digital one - it plays better), I barely have to look at it to get it to do what I want it to do.
I am extremely happy with my purchase. I wibbled over the money, but now that I have it, I can't figure out how I lived without before.

Date: 2005-05-06 05:46 pm (UTC)Did you get the 3G or 4G iPod? I really like mine, it's so useful, especially in the car. I even have a playlist for my daughter, so she can listen to her Disney tunes when we drive.

Date: 2005-05-06 06:10 pm (UTC)Oh, I said I got the 20GB iPod. ;) I looked into getting a 4GB mini, but it would have cost around the same price (at the price this one was listed at), so I decided to go with the bigger drive. Question about using it in the car: Is there an adaptor that doesn't involve using the typical tape deck deal? I don't like the way that sounds all scratchy, in which case I might as well not be listening to CD-quality music. You know what I mean?

Date: 2005-05-06 06:46 pm (UTC)There are several FM transmitters that you can use in the car for the iPod, but I've heard that if you live in an urban area, with many radio stations, it's hard to get a clear signal. I use the tape deck thingie, but I'm thinking of getting a FM transmitter sometime soon 'cause my current setup sucks.
