Warning: Playing World of Warcraft may be detrimental to your relationship with your significant other. Hahaha, especially if you're 15. I think my favorite part is: "of course i don't want you standing around while i'm getting my butt kicked. and i certainly don't want you off making your own kills at the same time. anyway, you seemed to miss the point entirely. you took me at my word, which is probably the worst thing to do when someone's angry. you left me to die nine times." YOU LEFT ME TO DIE NINE TIMES. I'm so using that from now on. And you must not miss all the hysterical comments that people left in reply to the post. It's just as good as the post itself. And now it's time for my second annual Academy Awards poll!

As usual, I'm going to try and see at least all the best picture nominees, although to tell you the truth I have no real desire to see two of them. I'm stunned they dissed Harold & Kumar and The Notebook. Stunned. *snicker* (All nominees are here. Link from [livejournal.com profile] jade_okelani) If you have no clue, you can consider shadowing our last year's winner, [livejournal.com profile] _lore. ; )

This year's prize is courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] jade_okelani and [livejournal.com profile] ropo -- thanks, guys! It is a Harry Potter Slytherin Crest Leather Wallet -- cool, huh?

Rules for participation:

1) You can only vote once, with one LJ account. Not that I would really know if you used some secret LJ that you created, but it would nag greatly on your conscience, I'm sure. As in, it would be really sad to try and cheat in a contest like this. Speak to a counselor.

2) You can change your vote(s) as many times as you want before the poll closes -- just fill out the poll again and LJ will update your answers automatically. The poll will close an hour before the Oscars air, so get all your final submissions in by then. That means you can make your guesses today, but if you're some Oscars savant and you don't want people copying your answers, you may want to wait until the last possible moment.

3) Anyone with an LJ can participate, so if you want to tell others about this, feel free.

4) In the case of a tie, winner who guesses Best Picture correctly will receive the prize. Additional ties will be determined by the next category down, until a winner is declared. If all winners have the exact same answers, prize will go to the person who submitted their entry first.

5) If I win (hahaHA, I never win these things), I'll be really excited to keep the prize! Just kidding. It will, of course, go to the second-best guesser.

6) If you win and don't want the prize, content to simply bask in the knowledge that you were the contest winner, I'll offer it to the next person, and so on and so forth.

7) If you work on the committee that does the Academy Awards vote counting, you are prohibited from this contest. (You never know.)

8) You get one point for each correct answer. If you fail to fill out an answer, you obviously won't get a point for that question.

9) If you see anything wrong w/ the poll, or w/ these rules, let me know straightaway.

Thanks and have fun!

[Poll #424791]

* Edit #1: Under Best Foreign-Language Film, "Yesterday" is actually South Africa, not Spain.

Note to Robbie: Since V. votes in the actual Oscars, you must encourage her to use her powers for good and not for evil. If she has trouble deciding what to vote for, tell her she may use this poll as a guideline. Heeheehee.

Oh puhlease. V. doesn't vote in the Oscars. She votes in the WGA. She's not an actual AMPAS member but does have an in to the screenings because she won a Nicholl award lo those many years ago. And she is of such poor taste that she nominated "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" for best screenplay. I shun her.

Also, just in case of some freakish tie, when we did our Oscar pool at ET, the tiebreaker was whoever predicted the length of the telecast. (I forget if it was without going over or just closest.)

:O

Then she is of no use to me at all. I could have sworn she did, but maybe because of her braggart self. I heard about "Steve Zissou"!!! That was when she used her powers for evil. At least she won't get to exercise them again.

Darn, I wish I'd known that re: the tiebreaker, but now it's too late to 'edit' the poll. We'll just have to go with my tiebreaker. :D

I saw that WoW thing on fandom wank when it was at 9 pages. The next morning, it was 14. Now it's 19!

*hee* *rubs hands gleefully together* My husband and I are going to be soooo dead when we start playing together.

I thought about you the whole time. :))

You'll have to let us know if a marriage can survive such stress.
