Edit: Please indulge another social experiment. Oh fine, it's nothing so lofty as that. I really am just curious, because I need to settle it with a friend of mine. The queston is this: How old would you say the person in the icon for this post is? Whether you know who it is or not, I would appreciate it if you would hazard a guess. Er, unless you actually do know his age, in which case, shhhh. This will only work if that is not revealed. :D Thank you.

Well. This has turned out to be a fairly exciting tournament to follow. Jade's prediction of serious upheaval in the brackets was totally right, even if she didn't make the right picks wrt where it was going to happen. I wonder if we've set any records for "most upsets in NCAA tournament history." I guess not, as it'd be all over the headlines if so. Still, it seems that nearly half or more of the favored seeds fell this weekend, including my projected champ Stanford and projected Final Four contenders Gonzaga and Mississippi St. (God, my brackets are such a mess right now that I can't even be that upset). It's why they call it March Madness.

But I still had reason to smile this weekend, and it's all due to Alias. God I love this show. Djimon Hounsou in next week's ep, baby. Love, love its guest stars.

Alias: Taken

I totally thought this was going to be a throwaway ep, from seeing last week's preview. I was like, "Oh, Dixon's kids get kidnapped, he freaks out, blah blah." Oh, it was SO MUCH MORE.

I don't pretend to understand all the mythology stuff. They lost me on Rambaldi about midway through S2, if not before. I knew it had to come up again, because there's too much we don't know about Sloane, but now I don't even try to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together. It's like the mytharc from XF; if they're just making it up as they go along, then how can we be expected to understand it?

Don't mind saying that I'm intrigued by lot 45. What is that thing and why does it have Irina's name on it???

Sloane. What is up with Sloane. He cannot be trusted. I stand by that. I really want to believe he's turned over a new leaf, but I just don't buy it. He's a confidence MASTER. If I had to put my money somewhere, I say he's been in on this from the start. His handler, after all, used to be Lauren. Everything he's done, could have been for a more sinister purpose, on the surface looking like he's innocent or at least would have no reason to betray the CIA. Right now, I would say that he's playing the therapist woman (whom I've never liked, and now like less). I think he fed her a bunch of lies for his own purposes; I don't think he did have an affair with Irina, nor does he actually believe Sydney is his daughter. I think he did use the therapist for her codes, fully accepting the risk that he would be jailed. I bet he and Lauren have a coup planned, which they formulated when they were working together. That's going to be my big, out there theory, bet.

I don't think dear old dad is in on the whole Lauren working for the other side thing. From the way they played the scenes in this ep, it seems to me that they have an antagonistic relationship, and Lauren is extremely resentful of the role he played in making sure she wasn't field rated. His doing that probably made her even more determined to prove herself, which is why she does what she does today, to prove to herself and everyone else that she can. The irony, of course, is that she's "proving it" to the U.S. government, who she thinks rejected her, when it was really the fault of her own father. I also want all this to be true because it actually makes me like Lauren more; I can totally identify with her need to prove herself/seek vengeance, whereas I don't really identify w/ being bad for bad's sake.

What I don't like, however, is the idea that Lauren felt bad for Dixon in this ep. It goes against her characterization. She has shown zero moral conscience up until now, and it makes no sense that she'd suddenly grow a heart.

As usual, loved the Sark. He looked great in this ep. I love it when he executes. Not necessarily people. <g> Tactics, plans, strategies, missions, that sort of thing. He's so hot when he does that.

How great was that reveal at the end? There you are, thinking all it is is an ironic moment with Jack thanking Lauren and Vaughn for doing something they did for reasons different from the one he supposed (well, Vaughn's mainly just there), and then BAM. Lauren's made, and they know who Sark's inside associate is. (Now that I'm thinking about this, I've only now noticed what a non-role Vaughn played in this ep.) I LOVE how completely unexpected it was. It's very hard to surprise me.

And because of this, I'm starting to like Lauren/Sark! I think it's adorable that she repeated his line to Vaughn, although it's also a bit bizarre. She's never shown much for Sark except lust and disdain, so I can't see why she'd be picking up his speech patterns. I suppose I just have to chalk this one up to plot convenience, although I think it'd be great if Lauren actually was in love w/ Sark.

They don't seem to understand that Vaughn needs to PAY for his lack of faith. Instead, everyone around him is paying. He needs to be HURT, so that I can then grant him comfort. But when HE'S asking for a separation (I'm a little annoyed because that seems to come out of nowhere, and because I now know too much about next week's episode), ostensibly without even knowing about Lauren's betrayal, and when HE gets to know exactly how much Sydney still cares, it just makes me annoyed. I do NOT support Syd/Vaughn right now, and the more they ignore the problem, the more they're going to push me away.

All that being said, I still love the idea of Syd/Sark. In S1 and S2, you could make a pretty strong argument that Sark liked/respected Sydney, but they seem to have nipped that in the bud this season. (They're SO determined to shove Syd/Vaughn down our throats, it's kind of freakish.) Still, I would LOVE IT if Sark's end game in all this was to recruit Syd. Lauren getting dissed that way would be totally fine w/ me, especially if she's just using him for her own purposes. I was therefore thrilled when Sydney told him to put the poison collar on her ... though even the way they shot that was totally unlingering and unsexy. Damn them.

Can't wait for next Sunday!!

*HUGS* to [livejournal.com profile] lissinthecity and [livejournal.com profile] jade_okelani, because they need them.

Dude, I just have to butt in and say how much I love your Alias posts. Since we poor souls in Australia are like, eleven episodes behind you guys, you and Television Without Pity are practically the only things that keep me going. Rock on!

...and yes, I can totally dig the Sark/Syd :D :D :D

OMG really??? I didn't think anyone read these. They're mainly a way for me to do a brain dump because the show always gets all these thoughts flowing around in my head and I have to get them out.

Without having seen the ep, or read the TWoP recap (which I assume isn't up yet) isn't this stuff confusing? I wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about! :))

Anyway, it's awesome to know that these entries are serving a greater purpose than just my own therapy. Thanks for telling me! <333333

Ha ha, that's ok :D :D :D

They are kind of confusing, but since I only really read for the OMG SARK!! OMG SLOANE! etc etc, it's not too bad.

And I know how old David Anders is so I will not guess, but dude, I had no idea he was that young!

I suck at things like this

I dunno...30? 35? 28? Why 28? Again, I dunno. It just sounded good, I guess.

Man, I need a LiveJournal account o.0

Thanks for making a guess! Live Journals are free now, and no invite codes are necessary, so you should get one. : )

I know, it's crazy!! I think you will wig when I reveal why I am asking people this question, re: how old my friend thinks he is from that icon (she doesn't know Sark/David Anders).

LOL, dood. What I said to Jade was actually a JOKE; I didn't actually think he was the age I implied. Hee. But let people make their guesses anyway, since you like the social experiments so much. You should make polls from these sorts of things!

Oh, David Anders. *sigh* You could be a hundred and I'd still love you. <3

*hugs you right back* I'm shocking at guessing ages, but... hmmm. I think he's older than he looks, so I'll say 35.

Mmmm, so it is! *does the happy dance* But, here comes the mighty decision (mightier even than deciding which ship I like better - D/G or H/Hr! Eep!)...to switch from blogger to livejournal, or not? What to do with my old journal if I do??? *twitches*

Early 30s? His skin looks smooth, but fake smooth like CGI. The lack of fat on his face makes him look older.

*drools* You know, even if I lost interest in what was going on in the LJ world completely - which is very unlikely, I would still check my friends list just for your Sark icons.
We only *just* had the second ep. of series 3 last night - ergo first sighting of Sark with new hairdoo.
I nearly fell off my seat trying to claw my way into the TV screen.

Err, late twenties so...27?

Hee, love your social experiment this week. As I know his age I won't guess...but he is SO HOTT!!!!! How does someone his age get so hot?

And yes, this week rocked the potty. I can't wait for next week. Am squeeing at the guest stars just like you. I <3 Syd/Sark too. So deliciously bad that it's good...like D/G!^_^

I didn't actually think he was the age I implied.

I don't think she knew it was a joke, or like, we didn't get it. <g> It's not like you look at a pic of say, Colin Farrell, and go, "OMG who is that child?" So obviously you did think he looked young or you wouldn't have joked about it at all. Plus, you did say a specific age. Are you now saying that wasn't actually the age you thought he was, or did you forget you said it?

Regardless, so how old did you think he was, if you're now backpeddling?? :D

You're right, I ought to use the poll function more, since I can, but it's just so much work.
