DSL guy: How can we help you?
Me: Yeah, my DSL isn't working. I can't get onto the Internet and none of my messaging services work.
DSL guy: How many lights do you have on your modem?
Me: Three.
DSL guy: Three solid lights?
Me: Yes. I've done the power cycling and everything already.
DSL guy: Mmm hmm. Let's have you do it again.
Me: Fine. *does it again* Yeah, it still doesn't work.
DSL guy: Okay. *makes me bring up a command prompt and do all sorts of ipconfig and pinging crap*
Me: Yeah, nothing's working.
DSL guy: And you say you have three lights on on your DSL modem?
Me: YES. THREE LIGHTS.
DSL guy: Hold on.
*five minutes pass*
DSL guy: Yeah, we think it's your browser. You're going to have to reinstall IE.
Me: If it's my browser, then how come none of my instant messaging services work? And how am I supposed to reinstall IE when I don't have an Internet connection?
DSL guy: Ummm ... do you still have your Verizon disk? From when you first installed the modem?
Me: Well, that was like two years ago. So no.
DSL guy: Ohhh. Hold on.
*five minutes pass*
DSL guy: So I've reported this to the tech guys, and they'll have the problem solved within 48 hours.
Me: Okay. So ... hang on a minute. Have we determined that there is something wrong with the line?
DSL guy: Ummm, yeah. There is, uh, static in the line.
Me: ....... Okay fine. Thanks.

&#@*$#@@&!!! Honestly. So here I am on godforsaken dial-up. *weeps* I know I should really take this opportunity to clean, but ... that would be responsible of me.
