a mini-rant and a question

sareaSometimes this fandom really irritates me and amuses me at the same time. All the petty politics and vindictive, intolerant behavior is CRAzy. It's HARRY POTTER. I don't take anything but my job, my family, and my friends that seriously. calliope14, have fun, write fic, and t00b around. And a big part of that is doing it w/ other people, which makes it as enjoyable as it is. But then sometimes it gets ugly, and I'm just astounded by the level people will sink to. I'm not referring to just one incident; believe it or not, in the last few days there have been several instances of drama, in different ways, involving different people. I don't want to be an ostrich who buries her face in the sand and ignores everything around her, but in this case, I'm not sure it would be entirely inappropriate. After all, this is supposed to be a hobby. Something I do for fun. If I wanted tears and drama and backstabbing and name-calling and guilt and screaming, I'd call my parents. Oh honestly, can't we all just get along?
In other news, totally unrelated, I have had to trim my friends list a bit. It is nothing personal to anyone; I'm just finding it really hard to find time to LJ lately, and then on top of that, keeping up with everyone's posts is nigh to impossible, and I miss stuff that I really want/need to see. If you're only here to get story updates, this doesn't really affect you one whit. :D You're free to keep me on or take me off as you wish.
How revamping TSA is going: It's going. It's been more difficult than I would have imagined pre-OotP. Going into OotP, I was pretty blasé, thinking, what could possibly happen to make that big a difference? Well as it turns out, a whole hell of a lot. *headdesk* (Doi, you're thinking. Yes, I admit I was naïve and way too optimistic.) And Sirius isn't even in TSA. But here's a question for you -- seems like a minor thing but will actually help a lot in terms of whether I changed what year the kids are in: Has it been established whether the Head Boy and Head Girl get their own individual rooms? If I wanted, for instance, to say that they have to share a room with one or two other prefects or something, would that contradict canon? (I personally think that the Head Boy and Head Girl just stay in the same dorm rooms they've always been in w/ the other guys and gals in their year, but for fic purposes that's never as fun. <g>) Usually fanon has the Head Boy and Head Girl with their own rooms, but now I don't remember whether that's fanon or canon ...
