Buffy/Spike fic squeeage

Started watching BtVS regularly mid-S5. Was always a Buffy/Spike fan, but never participated in the BtVS fandom (though from what I hear of it from Jade, I am glad this is so). Read a few works of fan fiction, but never really got into it. This is partially because I read the DT of B/S fic (at least, imho), and had no interest in reading anything beyond these stories. Today, I discovered that there is a fourth installment! Wheeeee! And though I haven't read these since I first encountered them years ago and am no longer hugely into B/S, I'm terribly excited about the idea of a new one. That's how much I liked them. They're based on an AU that deviates from events after "Fool for Love."

The series is penned by a couple of XF mavens, MustangSally and RivkaT (ironically I was not a fan of their XF work, though it was technically top-notch), which means that the writing is superb and the story (253 pages) was finished before it was released for public consumption. Oh, how I miss those days. If you haven't read these stories and have ever had an interest in reading B/S fic, I can't recommend enough. (At least, the first three, which I've read. :D)

Have started reading the first story. Am struggling a little bit because they're making references to things that have happened that I don't know about. I was kind of an on again/off again BtVS fan and I didn't keep up with episodes.

However... this story has sucked me in...
