I went to bed at 4am and woke up at 8am. :D

Thanks for all the nice comments about my LJ layout. :D It's optimized for a 1024x768 resolution, so those of you who use that size can see Draco in full Quidditch glory.

You know that episode of "The Simpsons" where Lisa conducts an intelligence experiment where she pits a hamster vs. Bart? And she lays out a cupcake where, if you reach for it, it sends an electrical current through your body? And the hamster gets shocked once, then never goes back, but Bart keeps trying to get to it no matter how many times he's shocked, never learning his lesson?

Yeah. Today I realized that I'm Bart. The last, oh, I don't know, 5 or 6 times I've gotten a latte, I've felt ill after drinking it. Does that stop me from getting one, though? You'd think so, wouldn't you? Well, you'd be in for some disappointment. I thought maybe it was because I couldn't handle the whole milk that I usually get w/ lattes, so I tried soy milk. Then I tried nonfat. And today I tried 2%. Each time: I felt siiiiiick. And yet, even now, feeling queasy, this is my thought process: Since they all make me sick, I might as well get the whole milk version next time, as that tastes the best.

I ask you! Am I an idiot or what? But I loooove lattes. I don't get them all the time. The first two sips of a latte early in the morning ... ahhhh. And the pastries. Especially a Starbucks butterhorn. Man, so good. And this is a totally new development! I never used to get sick off lattes. What's happening?!

Over the weekend, I saw two movies: "Finding Nemo," which was cute but nowhere near as good as people were saying it was, and "Bend It Like Beckham," which I loved. I didn't actually like the romantic subplot all that much (kind of predictable and clunky), but everything else was gold. I think this movie does for the Indian culture what "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" did for the Greek culture. And d00d! I liked Keira Knightley v. much in it. Quite a change from her character in "Pirates of the Caribbean," which actually makes me respect her more in that role. I don't understand the draw of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, though. I mean, he's v. intense and brooding, but he also looks slightly evil and I'm not sure he's really all that good looking. He'd make a great Draco, though.

[livejournal.com profile] angiej's post about musical theatre has made me realize how freakin' long it's been since I saw one I loved. I've seen several here and there because of the free tickets I get through work, but "Cats" and "South Pacific" and "Annie Get Your Gun" just isn't the same. I missed "Rent" the last time it was here, and I was v. bitter about that because the first time I saw it I wasn't that impressed, and then I fell in love with it listening to the CD, so I've really wanted to see it again. And I also missed "Mama Mia" and "The Producers." This is another reason why I don't like living here; there's really only one theater that supports these kinds of productions. (Once when I was living in DC, my friend Lindsay and I hopped on a bus to New York early Saturday morning, watched a matinee and evening show, did the same thing on Sunday, then left Sunday night -- was so nice to have a friend as into theatre as I was.)

Anyway, but now am making a compilation CD of all my favorite songs from various musicals. I suppose I will simply have to content myself with this. *grumbles*

To quote good Mister Holmes, "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." So if the latte makes you feel bad, no matter what kind of mil do you use, could it be... the coffee?

As a (reformed) caffeine addict, I empathize with your pain.

You're right, you're right, I know you're right.

But d00d, nothing else with caffeine in it makes me sick -- Coke, chocolate, tea, regular coffee ... Maybe it's the vanilla syrup. Which is just as tragic.

I give up. Where do you get all those wonderful icons?

Mmmm... My bet was on the caffeine. But if you can survive a can of Coke unscathed, then it's not the caffeine, nor the acidity of the coffee, since Coke is just as bad or worse. So yes, maybe it's the vanilla syrup. Or maybe the coffee in your latte is too strong?

I would suggest trying decaf and see what happens, but that's like cybersex: entertaining for a while, but just not the real thing. >_

Hmm ... I don't know which you saw, since I'm a fickle avatar bitch and frequently change them. :D However, the vast majority are ones I've made. Not the source images, of course, but cobbling together an avatar is something I can do. Are you looking at the "theirhateissocanon" one? If so, you're so welcome to use it if you wish ... spreading the anti-D/Hr message is a cause I support! :D

Maybe it is the coffee. Espresso is used in lattes, so maybe that's what's doing it. I'll take your advice and try decaf. Will post results. Heehee.

Hi! Well, it is always lovely to "meet" someone who has nice things to say about my writing. Heehee. As for TSA ... I'm glad you brought it up because I've been feeling a mite guilty about it. I've finally decided what I'm going to do with it post-OotP, but it involves some rewriting and some retooling of some of the details (much of which I'd already written for the next part, grrrr) and I've been feeling lazy and unmotivated. BUT this might be just the prompting I need. Thanks! :D

Waaaah! It is much too late to post on this entry but I saw Jonathan Rhys Meyers and I had to squee. I've always believed that he would make a good Draco, too! Ever since watching Gormenghast, in which he truly WAS evil. *sigh*
