Could I HAVE more to say?

I wanted to start this entry by thanking several people for a) participating in the author auction at [livejournal.com profile] propheting; b) making such generous contributions; and c) giving me the impetus to get off my duff and write something, already. Here's my writing schedule for the rest of 2005:

1) Fic for [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange, due early Oct.
2) Fic for [livejournal.com profile] chcltgddss, [livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13, [livejournal.com profile] mynuet, [livejournal.com profile] bitteliten, and [livejournal.com profile] twiddlekinks. Their request: Portkey Party sequel or fluffy smut, with a mention of Cho.
3) Fic for [livejournal.com profile] kstanley. Her request: Sequel to Playing Dirty.

They really took me seriously when I said I would whore myself out, and that I would write stuff from my "won't write" section if they gave me incentive to do so. Well, I'll say they gave me incentive -- when the bidding got to $175 conscience dictated that I had to write both, for the goodness of the cause. And now between them, they've raised $355 for the Red Cross!! You guys kick ass. I have to call out [livejournal.com profile] kstanley and [livejournal.com profile] chcltgddss in particular, for not only being so generous in their bidding, but because they gave us all quite an entertaining show. Seriously, it was better than eBay. It took several hours for my heart rate to return to normal.

Okay, so Jade and I have our anal planning for the East Coast Jaunt about complete. Our itinerary seems pretty solid with the stuff we've booked and have to do on particular days, so now it's time to see when/if people want to get together.

NY: [livejournal.com profile] kstanley, we want to meet you. What's a good time for you? Day or evening? This is our availability, let us know if anything works for you.

9/22-23 - Daytime is open; evening is also open, though if we do dinner it'd have to be a bit earlier as both nights we have Broadway shows to catch. We're also available after the shows for dessert or whatever.
9/24 - Daytime fairly open and also late evening, as here we may want to try and get tix at TKTS. You're welcome to join us for that, though I imagine the novelty is gone for you. :D

Boston: [livejournal.com profile] sydney_lynne and [livejournal.com profile] heinous_bitca, you're our gals! Are there Bostonites I'm forgetting??

9/25 - We won't get into Boston until late afternoon and then we're having dinner with my cousin, but we're free after that (around 8pm) to do dessert/coffee/a movie/whatever. I think this works best for SL -- what about you, HB?
9/26 - We could do brunch on this day, but it's Monday so you guys likely have work/school. Let us know!

Also, can you guys email me your contact info? Not sure what our Internet availability will be once we're on the east coast, so we may have to resort to those telephone contraptions.

Lost finale: I guess I was being really naive to assume that we'd get some resolution about things, meaning about Black Rock, the raft, etc. For some reason it seemed like they had to either get off the island or stay forever, and that we'd find out one way or another. You'd think I'd never watched TV before, with such expectations. :)) Oh how I laugh at myself now.

Anyway, given that I watched the show in basically two big sittings, I was okay with how we basically got nothing from the finale -- it was like an ep of BtVS S7. To me, it was less like a season finale and more like just another episode. But dang, if I'd watched the show from the beginning and followed it week to week and had to wait for this finale, I'd be pretty damn disappointed. I mean, literally, nothing happened. At least, nothing more exciting than what usually happens in every episode of the show. The baby was kidnapped then returned. The guys set out on the raft, but are screwed over and Walt gets taken. They blow up the hatch and look down a deep, dark tunnel. To which I say: ehhhhh.

I should probably have more interest in the hatch than I do -- but that's the part that feels most XF-y to me, and so I've primed myself for disappointment there. I just can't think that anything interesting will come of that -- assuming they even have a plan for it. The most interesting cliffhanger was the raft incident. Not whether Sawyer and Jin and Michael are going to be okay, because they're so going to be okay. Not even why they wanted Walt (again, just don't see that the answer to that question will be very interesting.) But who were those other people? That's the interesting question. Are they people from the tail section of the plane, but there's some kind of time warp so now they're all old? :D

My favorite part of the episode was the montage they did at the end, with the piano playing and everyone getting on the plane, passing one another, smiling at each other like strangers. And then it nicely melts into the present time, where they're looking all Lord of the Flies-y, working together, etc. It's really cool to think of all the connections these people have to one another, connections they're unaware of, and connections that they form while on the island. And that shot of Boone/Shannon -- :((. Poor Boone.

I'm going to do a separate post one day, listing all the connections they have to one another, that they may be unaware of but that we know. Maybe it will help me formulate a theory as to what's really going on! :D

Also, does anyone know anything about gardening? A bunch of people I know are really into it, and a coworker lent me this awesome (he says) "complete guide to natural gardening," but I look at my yard and just don't know where to begin. Still, I'm determined to be a gardener. All I need is some soil, some seeds, a hoe or rake or whatever it is you use to garden, a water hose, and cute little garden gloves, and I'm set.

I will be picking up a [livejournal.com profile] moony at the airport in Providence (that's Rhode Island) late on the night of the 24th.

Sunday night that late would be bad for me, since I'm about an hour from Boston. I do also have work on the 26th. Is there any other time you'll be around? Otherwise, I will try to do Sunday night somehow.

Emailing you my contact info!

Well the 23rd would be good for me. I am off all day Friday, so it might be fun to meet for an early lunch and cocktails. It's possible to do Saturday the 24th, but it would have to be later in the afternoon.

Do you have any particular NYC things you want to do? Walking tour? Go the Met? etc.?

they've raised $355 for the Red Cross!!

o_O

Geez, you know that from now on you have no right to make a single "my-god-my-writing-sucks/I-so-overrate-myself" post for the rest of your life, right? =P

Congrats, both to the writer and the bidders!

You could always hire a landscaper.

Wow!

Oh dear Merlin -- Yay!!! :) Thanks so much for all of your glorious writing, Sarea. And a sequel to both Portkey Party AND Playing Dirty? Wow. How very heavenly. Special thanks to kstanley and my lovely fellow-evil-bints! ;)

Oh!

Oh! I just moved from Cambridge / Boston. Hmm... if you're going for bars, I highly recommend "Redline" -- that's in Harvard Square. A bit of drinks (excellent martinis) and a bit of dancing. Which school(s) are people from? There's also "Miracle of Science" and "Enormous Room," both of which are pretty chill... Ah, Cambridge... :)

You're worth that much, you know! ;)

Boone/Shannon is just beautiful. Just. Beautiful. *Sigh*

am v. excited for ALL of them. (fan of yours, dropped by after reading your fic on restrictedsection.org- it has a prologue and one chapter, I like it very much, but you HAVEN'T UPDATED FOREVER, which makes me very sad and I came here hoping that you hadn't put it on permanent hold for eternity. but you probably have. have you?)

whew. that was a bit long and run-on-y. can't wait to see the Playing Dirty sequel!
