You guys... I had the most unrestful sleep ever last night. Don't you hate it when you dream that you're *doing things*, so you spend the whole time doing those things and wake up feeling like you haven't slept? Well last night I dreamed that I was moving to another country and had to pack up the entire house. Into like, one suitcase. It was 1pm and I had to leave by like 7pm. I was so incredibly stressed out, because there was so much to DO and think about, and I was being all Dudley like, "Can I get my TV into my suitcase?" CRAZY DREAMS.

I swear, I have the worst luck with eBay/Half.com. Jade says that if people had my luck with them, they'd never use them. Anyway, the latest thing is that one of the Xbox games I ordered arrived yesterday. It was the case, the manual, and the bonus disc. NO GAME DISC. Hello that is the most important part!! So now I have to go sort that out. So annoying! The most stressful part is in waiting for the other person to reply, wondering if they're trying to con you (or think I'm trying to con them), or be cool, or if it's going to turn into this ugly contentious thing.

I can't believe how close the deadline is for the dgficexchange. I often wonder, if I were a mutant, what power(s) I'd want to have. Right now it's the ability to turn back time. (A la Curtis from Misfits, except with the ability to control it.)

Though actually, the best power would be Peter's power from Heroes, the ability to absorb and use other powers. Kind of like Rogue, but not as deadly, and he gets to keep the power forever (iirc).

Okay, I finally watched episode 9 of Game of Thrones. Obviously, nothing happens that I didn't already know was going to happen from reading the books, but they did a really great job with it. I'm really looking forward to next week. ( Lotsa spoilers. )

It's the worst time of year here at work... self assessment time. Ugggggghhhhhhhhhhhh. I HATE IT. I feel like it happens *so often*, even though it's only once a year. I feel like it always comes again so quickly. Sigh.

comments

My experience over the years with eBay, from both sides of the fence, have been generally positive. I've been using it nearly since it came out, and these days it's even safer than it was before, especially as a buyer. There are lots of protections a buyer has. But every once in awhile, I'm reminded that eBay is still a risk, that less-than-upstanding people can screw you over in small ways.

I had one such experience recently, with the Le Creuset spatulas I was so excited about getting. I used Buy It Now and paid $11 + ~$4 for shipping. The auction itself said "two large Le Creuset spatulas" and nothing more specific than that. However, it also had a photo.

( Photo and details. )

Also, I've read some more of A Game of Thrones. I'm nearly 3/4 of the way through right now, and would have finished last night if I didn't have to get up early this morning. Grrr. As it was I had to force myself to put it down.

( More spoilery comments. )

comments

Okay, so the best-scam-ever-that's-not-really-a-scam WORKED!

It all began with an expensive pot. ( The story. )

My new tea kettle arrived. The good news is, it whistles (actually it's more like the sound of a train passing by) and I can open the spout without scalding myself. The bad news is, the spout is poorly constructed and when you pour water out, it leaks. As in, some of it splashes out onto your counter or stove rather than in your cup. Basically it doesn't do well with a trickle of water; if you pour a steady stream with confidence it's fine. Still, so annoying. It's always something! But of all the faults I can live with this one; even if it leaks at least it's only water.

Just finished reading David Lebovitz's The Sweet Life in Paris: Delicious Adventures in the World's Most Glorious - and Perplexing - City. Very enjoyable and funny. But you know what? Makes me NEVER want to live in Paris. Ever. I definitely want to visit and eat all the good food, but I could never, ever live there. It's not that he sets out to praise or rag on the city; he just tells it like it is, and I know I couldn't do it. Two words: personal space. Need it, must have it.

ropo is arriving today, eee! The touring cast of Wicked is here while she's in town so we're going to catch that. We've also got a couple dinners planned with a few Seattlites (including bday gal romanticalgirl :D), but otherwise are going to play it by ear.

comments
