Icons ahoy!

I have gone absolutely freakazoid nuts, and it's all [livejournal.com profile] kirixchi's fault. :D She was kind enough to get me that new LJ thing w/ the extra icons for my birthday, which was initially a total of 20 icons. I was like, "Boy, I don't even know if I can fill all those up!" Then they changed their minds, and it's now 50!! So for the past two days I have been hunting for icons and/or making them. And I just uploaded #50. *collapses* I've been pretty indiscriminate with what I'm uploading, but I just want to get them all filled, and can weed later. I've found some pretty kickass icons in the process, as well as run across some icon nazis. I believe I've credited everyone I'm supposed to credit (if I haven't, I'm sure one of the aforementioned icon nazis will only be too happy to tell me), and left comments all over random journals.

If you want to see all 50 shiny new icons (I weep for the day when I will have to go back to 10, or 3), this link will take you there. But please, do try not to be too envious. *snicker*

What I really need are some good Draco/Harry icons. I used to have some good ones, but then I got sick of them, and in my hunt I didn't find any I liked, either. Same with PotC. Ah, well. Perhaps the coming days will turn up something.

Also, the birthday cheer just never ends, as [livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13 has written me a lovely fic set in the TW universe, 15 years into the future. It's so wonderful to see the characters during different period in their lives; so familiar it feels like coming home. And it just makes me more excited to see how it all started, how they got to that point. Hopefully she will post the story (and she claims there's a follow up) very soon! <33333 Pud. ETA: Fifteen Years has been posted, and you can read at the link. : )

*Is in mad envy of all your D/G icons*
Do the ones by Shalou correspond to a story? *Very curious*

As my D/G shipping sister, you are welcome to use any of them (though of course, crediting whoever appropriately, or they will come after you with pitchforks) if you like! :D

As for the Shalou ones, which are amazing in full size, they don't correspond to any story. Her notes basically said, "I felt like drawing this, so I did." Heehee. From her site, it appears she's actually normally a D/Hr fan. *puke* But I think D/G is growing on her. *crosses fingers*

We must seduce her onto our side then! I will not rest until there are no more D/Hr shippers. *evil laugh*

You're the best D/G shipping sister ever! Will steal icons when I get sick of the ugly ones I just made, but right now I prefer to keep them since I spent like too much time on Sunday learning photoshop and making them. :P

Am a teeny bit disappointed that there's not a great and t00by D/G epic love story that the fanart illustrates. There should always be more great and t00by epic D/G love for me to read. *bats eyelashes at you and Jade* But art still pretty.

They're not ugly, t00b!! And learning Photoshop -- so useful and fun. I swear, I'd love to know how to use that program to its max potential ... as it is, I think I barely touch 10% of it. Anyway, it's always nice to have ready backup icons though. :D

P.S. Just had to put the modular smackdown over at [livejournal.com profile] dg_discussion ... *wibbles*

*loves you*

I was all a *headdesk* last night when I saw the post at [livejournal.com profile] dg_discussion but decided not to deal with it until the morning. :P

*ponders whether to get an instruction manual for photoshop b/c searching internet randomly to figure out to do stuff is most inefficient.*

*sigh* reposting for correct links

[identity profile] sarea-okelani.livejournal.com 2003-11-05 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take it down, or if so, how to do it. :)) Glad you're on top of that, as I am clueless.

You know, I've never considered getting a Photoshop manual, though you're right, it would probably be beneficial. Or, you know, reading the instruction book that came with it. *ponders* The thing is, I learn much faster by doing than by reading, and the doing is only fun when it's something that interests me in the here and now, like icons. BUT -- since you've brought this up, in all my searching for icons, I also found the [livejournal.com profile] icon_tutorial community, and the memories (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=icon_tutorial) are awesome. Everything I've ever wanted to know about icon-making is there, it seems. One of these days I will make a little mini-movie of my own. You know, because I like procrastinating.
