I'm back...

A few of you have reminded me that it's been a really long time since I made a post to LJ. And now that I see the date, and the date of my last (non-WoW) post, I can see that you were right. It's been over a month. I just got out of the groove of posting, and now there's too much and too little to say at the same time.
The most important thing that's happened since my last entry -- and the reason I just haven't been up to updating my journal although it needs to be mentioned -- is that my grandmother passed away. Some of you knew that she was sick. She appeared to be getting better for a time, but, well, she was 90 years old and is now at peace. She was my last living grandparent, and while in later years our communication grew limited, she will be missed.
Other updates:
* My mom is visiting this weekend, which means I have many, many yummy meals to look forward to.
* In preparation for my mom's arrival I have cleaned the house from tip to toe. Still stuff stacked everywhere, but at least the place is presentable.
* While my mom is here, I won't be able to raid for 8 whole days. There's a possibility that the Eye of Divinity will drop twice, and may go to someone who doesn't have a lvl 60 priest. /cry
* My taxes were more complicated this year, considering that I sold some stock in order to pay for the new house, so I filed for an extention for the first time and am considering hiring some place like H&R Block to do them. (Anyone know about how much they charge for individual tax preparation? May not be worth it if the refund isn't significant this year.)
* I have no idea how far the extension goes, as I can't find it anywhere in the documentation. (If someone knows, what is it???)
* I've somehow gotten myself into an Internet affair with a 15-year-old, and if I don't watch it I'm going to be the next Mary Kay Letourneau. Although, of course, we've never met, probably will never meet, and we're both aware of the fact that game stuff does not equal real-life stuff. Still, the more you talk to someone, the more you start to learn about the real person, and then lines get blurry. He's so much wittier and more mature (and funny -- that's really my downfall) than most others I've met. He's a sweet guy, but I don't want to go to jail for him.
* I betaed a story for Jade! It's called Chasing the Years, and it's a wonderful Snape/Lupin fic that I loved. I think it's one of the best things she's ever written ... that and a Firefly ficlet that she hasn't posted yet.
* I finished watching S1-5 of Gilmore Girls. I love that show.
* Currently I'm reading the "sequel" to Ender's Game, which recently made my list of Favorite Books.
* I'm also reading the manga The Demon Ororon, and unlike most manga, is only mystifying 10% of the time.
* There's a woman in my WoW guild that I despise so much I want to obliterate her from the face of the Earth.
* I haven't had Dairy Queen in a realllly long time, and after eating a Blizzard the other day, I felt so icky that I never want to go back.

Date: 2006-04-21 05:50 pm (UTC)I actually am reading The Demon Ororon, but the lie was that it was mostly comprehensible. The truth is that I rarely have any idea what the heck is going on most of the time. And yes, no cleaning of the house has been done.
Which means, of course, that I am reading Speaker for the Dead. :D I've only just started, but so far it's been a little difficult to get into. There hasn't really been anyone for me to latch onto yet -- which is very different from EG, because in EG I was immediately interested in Ender, as well as several other characters. Right now it feels like a completely separate universe from EG, even though Ender has been mentioned, and without anyone to "follow," I'm just kind of reading the words and not being all that interested in them, if you know what I mean. But like I said, it's only the beginning right now, so we'll have to see what happens when I've read more.

Date: 2006-04-24 11:00 pm (UTC)If you're looking something more along the lines of EG tho, try the Shadow series, which basically parallels EG in the first book and then follows a couple of the different characters, the main one being Bean.
Oh, and congrats on downing Rag. The group I run with has had him on "farm status" since January, and I *still* haven't gotten my NW pants. /cry

Date: 2006-04-25 08:56 pm (UTC)OMG at your Rags experience. Jade is not going to be happy to hear that, nosiree! So far we've gotten two hunter pants, one warrior, one rogue. So honestly, my experience could very well imitate yours. *sigh* To be honest, though, it's going to be awhile before we're really doing BWL in earnest, so my personal preference is just to get the whole tier 1 set rather than having mix-and-match pieces, which is starting to look more likely. You're so lucky to have full Arcanist!
