Nah, people don't have to pay - what I mean is... nobody spends anything. The designers on that show don't spend any $ to fix the place up. Although someone told me that on one of the gardening shows in the UK, the people have to pay like ... half or something, and her friend had to pay either 5,000 or 10,000 pounds. There are different ways they do it on most shows - on "Cash in the Attic," people sell their crap at auction and use the proceeds to do something they've always wanted, and on "Clean House," the Clean House team matches up to $1000 of yard sale proceeds and that's how much they get to spend fixing the place up. Anyway.
