Fanfic Author Appreciation Week: Day Three + Revamped Draco Poll

Tuesday pick: Mustang Sally and Rivka T
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I'm not cheating by picking two authors, because I really only have one story to pimp, and they're the co-authors. <g>

Possibly what MS and RT are most well known for is their story Iolokus, from XF. Frankly, I didn't care for that story at all. They are great writers, but the story plot and characterization was ... well, let's just say, if it hadn't been fanfic, I would have read it and enjoyed it. However, with XF, good writers were a dime a dozen, so it was an easy thing to simply read something else.

When XF went off the air and my interest in the fandom died, I was looking for something to take its place. The only ship I found remotely interesting in my new show, BtVS, was Buffy/Spike. But no fandom had writers like XF did, BtVS included, so the best way to find a good, well-written story was by looking for XF authors who wrote in the new fandom.

So when I came across The Heart's Filthy Lesson, written by two extremely reputable XF writers (even ones I hadn't particularly enjoyed in XF), I absolutely had to read it -- especially since it was B/S. Their work is an epic tale spread over four stories (after HFL is Serious Moonlight, Changes, and Spiders from Mars); it is what I would consider the Draco Trilogy of the B/S ship. The consequence is that it's one of the very few Whedonverse fanfics I've read -- both because I was never really interested in that fandom, and because it gave me everything I wanted/needed from B/S fanfic. So, really, kudos to them.

After reviewing the answers for the Draco poll so far, I have come to the conclusion that I did it all wrong. There are ties between answers because you could vote for any option at any time. The right way to do this is to do a small poll each day, eliminating the answer from the day before. I think we'll see much more accurate results that way.

So, thank you for the people who've polled so far; please bear with me as I try and get this right. I've added a few more choices, so please review the selection carefully before making your pick. Every day, I'll eliminate the answer that receives the most votes, and a new poll will be posted with the remainder. After all is said and done, I should have a more accurate picture of what we're all thinking re: Draco, and will, of course, share the results with you. <g> Also -- you may find that none of the choices seem very likely -- that's fine; some of them contradict themselves, so obviously it can't all happen in the books. The point of the exercise is to determine where our mindsets are wrt Draco and canon. Thanks. :D
